  • 1501-1830 Jul 2026 The Talking Statues of Rome: Anonymous Was Not Invented in 2003 Five hundred years before the imageboard, Romans had already built the perfect anonymous provocation machine: a broken statue you could stick a poem on overnight, mocking the Pope, with no name attached and nobody able to stop it. His name was Pasquino, and the Church spent centuries losing to him.
