Jun 2026 The Crusader's Shitpost 'Deus Vult' started as a war cry at the Council of Clermont in 1095. It became a gaming meme. Then it became a recruitment tool. Then it was in a mass shooter's manifesto. The phrase did not change. The context did. Religious symbolism in trolling is either sincere, ironic, or both -- and the ambiguity is the point.
