Energy: Cool, systematic, faintly impatient with people who need the scaffolding he removed. The energy of a man who has solved the problem and is mildly irritated that others keep redecorating the irrelevant parts.

Impression management strategy: DELIBERATE UNDERSTATEMENT. Where Crowley amplified everything to eleven and Morrison narrates his own mythology, Carroll publishes dense technical manuals and declines interviews. The strategy is anti-charismatic by design: if the founder is boring, nobody builds a cult around him. Whether this was strategic or temperamental is an open question. The result is the same.
